Overview
On 6 days of your Ugandan tour, you will explore the finest wilderness of Kidepo Valley national park in North Eastern Uganda which covers 1442 km2. With over 75 mammals and 470 bird species in the park, you will have an awesome experience of the various wildlife including the birds and animals through game drives, nature walks, and birding. Before you leave the park, you will also encounter the Unique Karamajong and Ik people found around the park and experience their amazing lifestyles.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kitgum.
Depending on your time of arrival from the airport or Kampala, you will be met by our experienced guide from Shoebill Tours Uganda. With a short briefing, passing through Luwero Triangle, you will embark on a 7- 8 hours long journey to Kitgum town through the savannah grasslands of Nakasongola district. Before you reach Kitgum, you will have en route lunch at Luwero town. Check in the booked lodge for a night’s stay.
Accommodation: Boma Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer from Kitgum town to kidepo valley national park
After grabbing breakfast, embark on a 2-4 hours drive to Kidepo valley National Park passing through Kakwanga villages with nice views of their grass thatched houses, and finally enter the park. Check in the booked hotel, have lunch, chill up to the evening and retire for a night.

Day 3: Early morning game drive and a visit to the hot springs
After early morning breakfast, we set off for an early morning game drive through Narus valley in the park for 2- 3 hours. Expect to see wild games like buffaloes, lions, elephants, lesser kudus, giraffes among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for a another drive to Uganda- Sudan border to visit the Kanangorok hot springs where you will view most of the ostriches. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Nature walks and evening birding watching
Have breakfast and prepare for the amazing birding activity through the nature walks in areas of Narus and Nakamukweny valley. With packed lunch, you will experience some of the endemic species as they come back to their nests in the evening such as ostrich, pygmy falcon, Karamoja Apalis, Silver bird, Kori bustard, White Bellied Bustard purple heron among others which make the park a paradise for birders. Dinner and overnight rest at the lodge.
Day 5: Cultural encounters
On the last day of the tour, you will encounter the two tribes of Karamojong (pastoralists) and Ik (cultivators)people who leave around the park. You will see their unique houses with small entrances and be entertained by their songs, stories, dances together with breathtaking views of the sceneries. Return to the hotel, have lunch relax up to the evening to prepare for the following day’s transfer back home.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kampala
Having grabbed breakfast, prepare and set off for a long journey of about 10 – 12 hours with a stopover for refreshment and lunch and arrive late in the evening at Entebbe or Kampala to catch up with the flight or for an overnight stay.
